United Socialist Republic of America

In the past I have noted how socialism has made its way into our lives here in the U.S.. It appears we, or at least the Democratic Party, has finally embraced some of the key pretenses of true socialism. They have turned a truly democratic process into something that is more like a Russian Polit Bureau election. First, they have excluded millions of voters for failing to "obey" the national party rules. Then they created a superdelegate situation which allows party leaders, rather than the every day voters to decide the candidate.

Wikipedia defines the superdelegate this way: Unlike most convention delegates, the superdelegates are not selected based on the party primaries and caucuses in each U.S. state, in which voters choose among candidates for the party's presidential nomination. Instead, most of the superdelegates are seated automatically, based solely on their status as current or former party leaders and elected officials ("PLEOs"). Others are chosen during the primary season. All the superdelegates are free to support any candidate for the nomination.

To be fair, these unelected delegates exist in the Republican party also. But the system for the Democrats, is much more polluted and this years 850 superdelegates will likely decide who they will nominate for president.

Democrat or Republican, it is horrible that we have allowed this sort of practice into our political system. The forefathers would be disgusted by the practice and it is truly a violation of the basic tenants of our Nations principles. So get ready Comrad Obama, the capitalist pig McCain is waiting for you...

"Fairness" is a liberal ideal that the Democratic party is seeking in putting together their election rules. They are seeking to be "fair" to the voters...except those that don't follow the rules. They've got an obligation to be "fair" to the PLEO's.

The candidates have learned that the best way to "fairly" win votes is to pander and promise that they will fix your woes. Unfortunately, they can't actually fulfill those promises, but that won't matter once they've been elected.

I'm not smart enough to know what the perfect primary process looks like...but I believe it should result in candidates that would be the best leaders of our country, and not the best promise makers.
