Men of Honor

What is it to be a man of honor? A man of God? Is it providing for your family? Is it cutting the grass and doing the "man work" around the house? How about coaching your kids sports teams or being a leader in your place of worship? Is that what we are to be as men or honor, men of God?
I think men face a very confused path today. A large number of 20,30 and even 40 somethings do not have a Godly man/father to pattern their behaviors after. Many dads from the 70's and 80's failed miserably. Thus, there is a generation of men playing trial and error learning in their homes, at church and at work. Many men today are either wet wash rags, unwilling to stand for anything or they have inflated superegos, believing themselves to be overly knowledgeable and able to do anything. Take either of these men into a house with a wife and 2 kids and failure is not far behind.
The "wet wash rags" among us do not properly lead their families. They look to the wife to be both the nurturer and the decision maker for the home. They are unwilling to be little more than one of the children. They provide no spiritual guidance and do not have the ability to provide their children the example they need to break this cycle.
This is not to say our wives need a "boss" in the house. Those of our kind with superegos believe they are called to be the master of their homes. This group truly believes that a wife's "submission" to them could be defined as OBEY. They think they make the rules and what they say goes.
Both of these philosophies are flawed. I want us to begin a discussion of what a Man of Honor is. Would you participate?
