1 Corinthians 2:9
However, as it is written: "No eye has seen,no ear has heard,no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him."

Experiencing God

While driving to work yesterday, I was really thinking about man being made in God's image. It really changed the way I looked at everyone I passed. It was hard to look at the angry man in the car behind me and think of God. I saw the very large woman walking across the street and had to chew on the image of God. Then there was the homeless guy talking to him self. The image of God?
I guess God is supposed to look like me. White, upper middle class male. Because, if I think of these other people being made in the likeness of God, and being loved by God, and being children of God, then how can I return the attitude of the angry man? How can I laugh at the large woman struggling to walk across the street? How can I look down on the homeless man just trying to find some sanity in his own thoughts.
Experiencing God doesn't just happen with your like minded peers. We experience God every day. We just don't mimic God in his love for others. God loves these people. Jesus died for each of them. He knew their names when He went to the cross. How shameful we should feel when we claim a unique right to God's love. You know, we do this every time we cast our arrogant, unloving glance down on these people.
I pray God will help us look on everyone with love.
