Why Is He So Rebellious?

I love my oldest son. I really do. He's 11 and he is as hard headed a person as I know. He will argue with a fence post. He does have a kind spirit. Usually his most detestable characteristics come out only for the viewing of his mother and me. Why does he push me so? Why does he promise me to change his behaviors only to repeat them? Why does he constantly try to find ways to work around me and my rules?
Maybe he does it so God can remind me of what he has to put up with...

I'd like to think that my children are extremely well behaved by anyone's measure. Even more I'd like to think that it is by my doing that they are so...though it isn't, at least not completely. And yet when my kids show defiance and disobedience I find it to be almost completely intolerable. It's at that moment that I wonder how God must feel about my disobedience. It is surely a lesson to be learned everyday.
