What's Wrong In Iraq

I am a firm believer in our original mission in Iraq. I am not like the liberals that never really wanted us there. I do believe we have made two key mistakes. Here they are:
  • We did not send enough troops originally to win the peace. More boots on the ground would have dissuaded the insurgents. It would have also kept Iran and Syria at bay earlier on after the fall of Baghdad.

  • Asking our troops to be police officers is wrong. Our troops are trained to kill people and blow things up. They are not trained to be police officers. To be successful, our troops have to be allowed to use the "full arsenal" at their disposal. We have now asked them to be sensitive and political in their approach to our enemies. This is the same recipe for disaster employed in Vietnam.

Asking our troops to be socially sensitve in counter intuitive to what armies are created for. Armies are made to conquer, unfortunately we are the only nation on earth that has to rebuild a Country, after we destroy it.
